THE ROPE
By Titus Maccius Plautus
ICAP Theatre, Los Angeles

PRODUCTION NOTES

The Rope was ICAP Theatre's first production. This ancient comedy by the Roman playwright Plautus was given a modern, multimedia, multi-language spin with the traditional use of masks. Mask maker Wendy Gough created exact replicas of Roman comedy masks that were absorbed into a contemporary world of crazy characters with modern costume and hip hop choreography set on an island in the Bermudas.

World music, an opening film sequence, subtitles and a still hilarious play that holds up 2000 years later, the Rope was a big success for our growing company. Performed in French, German, Japanese, Spanish, and English.
